The somber reality encapsulated in the saying "When the rich wage war, it's the poor who die" highlights the tragic aftermath of armed conflicts, where innocent civilians often pay the ultimate price in the pursuit of geopolitical objectives or financial gains.
My artwork endeavors to give a voice to these overlooked victims of war, portraying the faces of individuals whose lives have been shattered by violence and turmoil. Each portrait narrates a tale of loss, sorrow, and resilience, capturing the humanity that is frequently disregarded amid the chaos and devastation of warfare.
Through my artistic expression, I strive to shed light on the human toll of war, prompting viewers to acknowledge the harsh truths faced by those impacted by armed conflicts. These are not merely anonymous casualties of war; they are individuals with aspirations, and families torn apart by violence.
I am reminded of the profound injustice of war, where the influential exert their power from a distance while the defenseless endure the consequences on the ground.
However, amid the shadows of war, there exists resilience and optimism. In the gazes of these war survivors, I perceive a resilience and nobility that surpasses the horrors they have faced. They are survivors, bearing witness to the war's atrocities and refusing to be silenced by the violence that has engulfed their existence.
Through my art, I aim to pay tribute to the memory of these war victims and amplify their voices in the ongoing pursuit of peace and justice. By sharing their narratives and showcasing their portraits to the world, I aspire to evoke empathy, kindness, and unity with those who endure the devastating aftermath of war.

'They got money for wars but they can't feed the poor'

Tupac was a prominent figure to my music discography growing up. His older works where he talks about societal issues such as; 'Keep Your Head Up' and 'Dear Mama', were some of the songs that left a huge impression on me.

When the Ukraine-Russia war broke out, all I could think of was this line from the song 'Keep Your Head Up'. Once again, I sit here and wonder why is it that when the rich wage war, it's the poor who die.

This painting is both a homage to a great musician and also an outlet for the anguish I felt in that very moment.
